Fossils get broken, this is a fact of life. Regularly, fossils are discovered damaged or missing pieces. Other times, accidents happen and specimens get broken. This is where restoration comes in to save the day. Restoration is the process of making the fossil specimen appear close to its original form and color. The best restorations make the specimen appear complete and original at first glance but upon closer inspection, the restoration should be obvious. Restoration DOES NOT include fabricating parts that were not originally on a specimen, or wholly creating specimens.
